Greg once wrote that it has recently invented by the Loskalmi (and it's tied up with their philosophy of the Hidden Mover being superior to the One Mind) but IMO this refers to its formulation as a number in its own right. Concepts of nothingness and all that are easy to come by in the RW before the Indians developed zero.
