My mediocre latin dictionary tells me that the noun vexillum simply means banner. From a picture in an old schoolbook edition of Caesar's Gallic War, I deduce that the roman vexillum was simply a stick with lots of figures on it (supposedly symbolizing the Might of the Unbeatable Roman Empire etc). You'll be able to find illustrations like the one I have in any library. Or you could just pick up an Asterix album. Esp. the one where Asterix and Obelix enlists in the roman army ;-).

My guess is that their is no single vexillum for the entire Lunar army. Instead each unit would have its own, with its own signs, symbols, flags and figurines attached to it.

Hupp!
