Why should his reign as KoDP end? The position doesn't have to be vacant until Argrath takes the Kingship in 1629 (or 1643 or whenever), by which time Moirades could dead or gone from any number of causes (he'd be 71 or so anyway).

>I go for the version making her Pharandros' sister.

I was thinking more along the lines of a year-wife but not for any good reason. I guess I prefer her as Pharandros's mother because that allows her a chance to be mother of the kings of both Tarsh and Sartar (as well as wife of the KoDP). Now there's a dynasty!

>I'm not so sure about that - Heortlings admire strong leaders.

Hmmm. They prefer to hold grudges, I think, and praise their enemies when those enemies are dead and buried. There's not much in KoS that shows respect for the Lunars -- they are just plain bad.

>IMO a major reason for keeping her true status unknown are Lunar Heartland

Well, yes, more plots that way. This is getting to be quite a large footnote to history.

Geez, Termertain was an academic, not a Eunuch.

>This works as well for Pharandros' sister. If we assume she is Pharandros'

If she's Pharandos's mother, she could have any bloodline at all. Maybe she is decended from HonEel, who had about a jillion kids, after all. Maybe Ms. Donge is the Lunar side of HonEel, while Moirades is the Earth side. Pharandos would recomine the two, and Temertain Jr would bring Storm into the bloodline. All of Dragon Pass brought together in one family.... Maybe Ms. Donge had a child in Sartar; Prince in the Tower, anyone?

>Which is a perfectly good reason for Argrath the former Wolf Pirate to do
>just such a thing [imprision her in the City of Wonders].

Well, assuming it could be done (but I'm siding with Mr. Metcalfe here), it would be a way to take some troubling blood out of the world without spilling it....

>Almost makes me wonder whether Moirades served a term as one of the Egi of
>Argenteus...

Or maybe he was trying to tie the land firmly to his bloodline to make them Satraps of Dragon Pass.
