Last time this came up I suggested that kinship, & therefore adoption, was about who your myths related to not which particular couple provided the gametes. I've not pursued it & TR may eliminate it, but adoption could be done by mythical means, ie Heroquesting to 'prove' common ancestry. Of course most Heortlings already share some ancestors & it's just a matter of going back far enough.
