Simon Hibbs says some things about the Lunars, that I've mostly addressed in other posts, but:

        This is true (as far as I know), and nicely put. There is a strong suggestion that the intentions of the Goddess and the intentions of the Empire (including Her Son) are not entirely congruent. The Luner erro could come from having their Mojo pulled out from under them, but it seems kind of mean for a nice goddess....

        But this is my point. Urox and Orlanth are separate things (at least on some level; they are both Air), and Elmal and Yelm are also separate things, despite both being the Sun. Elmal isn't a face, mask, avatar of Yelm, so the essential concept of Sun-ness must be somewhere "above" both of them.
