I believe "Football" is a great god worshipped in many cultures under substantially different practices.

The Dubyas are a people of Vithela who are so under the sway of the Lord of Dreams that they believe their uncomfortable island (not the largest in Vithela, despite their claims) is a paradise. Cows are widely worshipped there, as is beef. Even the great god Football is worshipd in the shape of an Orange Cow, but there are many other Football sects as well.
