Two reasons. First of all, people seem to want an uz book now, but such are the Issaries publication plans already in the pipeline, with the Sartar Rising series, the Imperial Lunar handbooks, fiction, HW2, Hero's Book, etc, that it will be some time before they can get round to publishing them. Secondly, Issaries are also being rather more ambitious with their plans for the uz *series*. This means that James will have to do a lot more writing, etc. Out these two factors together and even if they manage to hit their book-a-month schedule - which is an ambitious one given that this is not some big games combine - they I personally (and this is my guess, not any Inside Knowledge) would be surprised to see an Issaries uz book out before autumn (fall) 2002 at the very earliest. Very earliest.

Well, to an extent the UW book will be, in that (in)famous Gloranthan phrase, a work-in-progress. This is inevitable, given that the way Greg and Issaries work is primarily as explorers rather than game-company hacks. If Greg, James, whoever gets a better, brighter idea up to the very last day before it goes to the printers, then it is likely to be developed and included. But that said, as James is Mr Uz, we hope that the UW uz book will very closely foreshadow what eventually comes out from Issaries. But the UW book is meant as a 'everything-you-need-to-play-and-run-uz-in-one-book' product. The Issaries series will be out together as just that, a series - all told, the Issaries series will end up subsuming all the stuff in the UW book, as well as presenting a great deal more. But if you don't want to wait until Issaries finally manage to get their uz series out, then UW will present you with an interim option.

> I'm confused.

Hope this helps!

By the way, obviously just for the sake of public information, for TERRA INCOGNITA and anyone else interested in Harald Smith's wonderfully textured Imther - those indefatigable fellows at The Unspoken Word will also be bringing you not one but two Imther sourcebooks in 2002, with marls and maps, cults and cheese...
