Wealth is a complete red herring, as far as I can see. An economically marginal clan, say one with a small population supported disproportionately by frex hunting would obvious have emulatory relationships in a _different_ pattern (lots of Yinkini or other hunting types, few Esrolans), but I see no case for it being wildly statistically different.

Please explain to me how the case in point, of a Barntar-devoteed Orlanthi carl who, as both an act of worship, an essential of emulation, and a necessary steadly chore, plows (et al) numerous hydes of arable land, can possibly count as being "supported by the labour of
others".
