Yup!
This is part of my campaign's plot and has been from early on. Though the Heroes may change the ending, I picture a moment where, having helped bring The Return to fruition, they must choose between an idyllic, selfless eternity INSIDE the city, or leaving forever and abandoning their home, families, and city god.

Plus, I'm hoping to maneuver a player Humakti into sacrificing himself in the final ceremony, which requires that all weapons in Pavis be destroyed and that death itself be killed.

Up against this is the choice to stop the climactic ceremony and thereby subject Pavis to a horrible invasion by Jaldon and whatnot.

And of course, there are other forces at work, attempting to change the ceremony so that the city returns, not to the Green Age, but to the Greater Darkness, becoming a portal for Wakboth (or someone of his ilk) to reenter the world.

Boyo, I need to speed up the campaign...we're real world years away from this stuff now.

Mike
