Andreas states two valid points:
  1. An environment of "haves and have-nots" is bad.

Rick sez: The GTA material is generally on such

esoteric subjects out of the mainstream
that not having it is no big loss to
players and GMs of RQ, HW, etc. Die-hard
          historians could enjoy it, though.

2. The quality of Gloranthan material has declined

   in the Issaries Inc era.

Rick sez:
This is a very interesting topic. The TYPE of material published certainly has changed. If you compare the material published for HW to any RQ supplement they are obviously radically different. They approach Glorantha in two very different ways. Most of the RQ material was written with a great deal of the effort being done by authors other than Greg, especially much of the scenario material. Greg made much of the material more Gloranthan, but the core scenario info was written by the likes of Sandy Petersen, Steve Perrin, Ken Rolston, Paul Jaquays, Rudy Kraft, et al. They are all top notch professional scenario writers who worked with Greg. Those guys have all moved on.

To me, the Hero Wars material has its focus far more based on material related to myths, deities, and history. Greg is more likely to write a HW book on that than a scenario pack like Borderlands, Griffin Mountain, or Pavis. He would rather talk about the 3000 versions of the god Orlanth rather than Balastor's Barracks.

The printing/presentation quality is now as good as it ever was during RQ2, save for the maps.

I was happy with just one Orlanth, but such is life in the Hero Wars...

Rick
