Muslim soldiers are permitted to reduce their religious committments during wartime, Christian crusaders recieved dispensation during the crusades.

I see no reason why Heortlings wouldn't or couldn't recieve something similar. of course the ceremony still isn't going to work any better with half the tribe away dispensation or not, unless that dispensation comes from might highh up :-)
