Philosopher King

IMO the Philosophers are a Lhankor Mhy sect that is on bad terms with every other Lhankor Mhy sect (note that to find Temertain, the Sartarites go to Seapolis rather the more obvious Nochet where the Great Temple is). They seek to incorporate the insight of the Sorcerers into their god [Lhankor Mhy] and thus obtain the long lost perspective of the Gloranthan Court. They differ from the Torvald Alchemists in that the Alchemists seek to learn from Lhankor's Great Scrolls whereas the Philosophers study the Malkioni instead (which is why Temertain collects God Forgotten miniatures).

In order to give others the benefit of their insight, the Philosophers have dreamed up the concept of a Philosopher King (based somewhat loosely of Malkioni notions of governance) that will rule the non-philosophical masses. This implies that the Philosophers also have a Philosopher-  and a Philosopher-Knight, which could be terrifyingly deranged people to meet.
