Hi all,

This might have been said already, if so i apologise if i'm repeating anything.
The way I see it, the use of titles among the orlanthi is one of the things that separates the Heortling traditions from the Alakorings.

IMG the Heortling clans have a none hereditory system (excluding the high king) of government. Any title given is to the person not the position, rather like the far more common epitaths

Alakoring clans tend to have more hereditory and formal positions, and so the positions gain the title (such as the elusive baron of Baron's Friends fame in the Dragon Pass Board Game).

The Lunars have also gotten into the act formalising many of the positions in Tarsh by replacing the traditional tribal kings with Dukes. (phargentes gave Vostos this title duke after axefield)

It is from these little differences like this that you can tell the Orlanthi apart, and why the various clansmen dont trust each other, or unite together because they see the differences, not the similarities.

Cheers,
Mick
