Hmm... Perhaps it is mythically more correct for the king to hunt down the winter deer (the Twins' fawn) in order to end winter? The Vingan's role would then be to help the fawn's birth against wolves and such so that it can grow to adulthood and get killed, like she did when Heort was born.
If I keep to my first idea, the king has got to kill the winter deer, but the mother,
Heort's daughter (Estava?), gives birth to a son who returns to his stead and joins the clan.
