I agree, but I'd quibble that some parts of Hell came into existence during the Golden Age, perhaps even late Green Age.

But that is just an honest-to-goodness _quibble_ , and the basics are excellent, and I do not disagree with you.

Charles Corrigan :

I'll disagree with some things you say, but please understand that my reasons for doing so are almost entirely terminological ... :-)

The "Philosophical Plane" and the "Philosophical" entities are in fact almost entirely hypothetical and have no real existence as such anywhere.

The GLs (or at least *some* GLs) thought that there was an Age of Darkness prior to the Blue Age, and this is one of those "Philosophical Ages". But you cannot go there, nothing true can be said about it, it contains no matter and no space, has no substance, and to put it bluntly does not exist, except as a philosophical mystery concerning the causes of existence.

Unfortunately, philosophical mysteries are cultural artefacts, which means therefore that even the field of investigation of these philosophies is entirely suspect.

Sorry.

If they are worshipped, they cannot be "Philosophical" entities.

They are "Real" entities instead.

There is a huge number of Hells and Underworlds.

Many, possibly most, Hells are not even in what would normally be classified as the Underworld.

Most Hells are simply prisons for "evil" entities unfortunate enough to get stuck in the wrong otherworld (think Sheng).

> The Underworld (like the Hero plane) is mixed (*3),

The part of the Underworld you're thinking about, yes.

Another part of Glorantha is the incredibly weird, shattered, and twisted (unpublished) sub-underworld region, where forgotten demons and unknown chaos fiends live side-by-side in a mad, dead landscape filled with the remnants of ancient cosmic destructions, broken planets, the enemy gods of extinct races and peoples, and the eternally unstoppable stream of chaos incursions from beyond Glorantha's fragile shell ... ;-)

NOT a Philosophical Plane ...
