Chris Lemens:

>Who in Glorantha builds or built pyramids?

There are only two obvious candidates I'm aware of.

The first are the Black Sun worshipers of the Kingdom of ignorance, who's blood sacrifice rituals are based on Mayan or Aztec rites.

The other are the Malkioni. This isn't just because they worship Law which is represented by a triangle. If you look at their maps of the Kingdom of Logic, they are triangular. Several years ago at Tentacles Greg was showing these off and someone pointed out that the triangular maps fitted together to make a square world, but that the triangles were not perfect equilateral triangles, but right-angle triangles. Surely the perfect land shoule be a perfect, equilateral shape.

My resolution to this problem is that the Kingdom of Logic (and the other three portions of the world) were indeed equlateral triangles, but instead of forming a flat square, they formed a pyramid, the peak of which formed the World Mountain (The Spike).

If that is the case, then ancient Malkioni models of the world may take the form of pyramids, and pyramidal structures may have been used in magical symbolism as microcosms of the ideal world. It may actualy be that modern Malkioni don't realise this, and that the ancient ruined and decrepit remains of pyramids can be found in various corners of the old Kingdom of logic, their true meaning lost to history.
