Chaotic Artisans

In my poor English, just a summary of a secretist group of chaotic sorcerers in Malkioni lands, suitable for ‘idealistic’ villains.

ANTIMATTER ARTISANS’ GUILD The old world is over, and is time to create a new one

Common Knowledge:

Most Malkioni consider that the Antimatter Artisans are foul chaotic sorcerers, demon summoners with sinister plans and conspirations. The Antimatter Artisans consider themselves as a creative group that forms things, energies and beings from Nothing, freeing the world of stagnation, and guiding it to a new, different, ever-changing world. Most members of the Order are also very respectable members of malkioni society.

Their organisation is so secretist (for avoiding persecution) that their members usually don’t know each other’s real identity. There is a lot of rumours, misinformations and theories of conspiration about this order (also between their members).

Myths:

Malkioni tradition says the Artisans are heirs of ancient Kachasti people corrupted in the Ice Age. It is said that the Antimatter Artisans are atheists, impersonal sorcerers, but they have some highly symbolic myths (allegories).

A summary of cosmogonic allegory, from the Unfinished Book of Innumerable Dreams (it seems to take something of some pagans myths)

At first, Great Artisan (Primal Chaos?) made a beautiful tapestry with his own dreams and he called it Magnus Opus (as known as Invisible God or Cosmos), an almost perfect universe. Then, Great Artisan died and Magnus Opus became closed in itself, unable to dream. In the tapestry, Little Artisans were able to imagine a different world. With their magic, they began to re-weave the Magnus Opus, taking the thread out for using it in other parts (so, Change and Death were born). Too much tension in this work and the Void came into the tapestry. Void was True Death, destruction of the threads and not simply transformation, but it brought a blessing, because the Magnus Opus opened and Great Artisan reborn in some children: the new Artisans. Great Spider taught Little Artisans to weave in balance without destruction and Magnus Opus was saved. But now, the New Artisans, the children of the Great Artisan, are able to continue the unfinished creation of the world with new threads taked from the Void.

New Sorcery:

The Artisans respect and love the Magnus Opus but they want to complete the Creation with new things formed with the unrealized posibilities of Primal Chaos, using the ‘New Sorcery’. They sail the Sea of Innumerable Dreams, looking for the Isles of Creation (also called Prima Sustantia Nodes), and there they find the power for their creations. The sea is ‘out of the world’ from the Artisans POV, in Hell from the Malkioni’s.

For ‘breaking the barriers’ they have to do terrible rituals, making abherrant acts (cannibalism, human sacrifice, drinking human blood, etc.). They respect and love the Laws of Creation, so these acts are for them an umpleasant duty.

There is no limit for their magical creations (secret buildings, catacombs, sculpture, weapons and armor, paintings, music, etc.), but the most infamous are the kraljki called New Born, creatures and demons apparently made of imagination which serve and protect the Artisans.

All their creations are at least very, very strange, because they are beyond the limits of possibility (even in Glorantha). For descriptions, a mixture of Eschen’s pictures, 3-D abstract art and Lovecraft horrors would be appropiate. There are also features not included in the formula of creation (they are not enterely previsible, and have usually ‘secondary effects’).

Regards,

Antonio
