For me, three equal alternatives:

Griffin Mountain, I disagree that it is easy to play a primitive hunter (in fact, I think that the more primitive, the more difficult it is, because it is farther from our personal experience), but because of the supreme sense of wonder and abundance of gameable material.

The Lunar Empire, using ILH-1, again because of the sense of wonder and because I think a more "civilized" setting is easier for new players to relate to.

The East Isles, because I really like them :-)
