The Last ScotsCon News Post

Heriot Watt University
5th - 7th September 2003

Just a week and a half until Scotscon. Still room for last minute sign ups - please contact me *now* if you want a bed, though!

The program is just about finalised. We're pretty proud of the line up we've assembled, and are confident in living up to our claim to being the only dedicated Gloranthan convention in the UK this year. Accept no substitutes! The list of events and games is below - current expected running times are on the web site.

EVENTS HeroQuest Launch Party.
We celebrate the arrival of the new Gloranthan game with freebies, prizes, and discount copies of the game.

Sing-along-a-Nick.
Nick Brooke leads the assembled choir.

Win a Game of Cthulhu with Sandy.
Sandy Petersen will run a Cthulhu adventure for the six lucky raffle winners.

Live Action Trollball.
The ultimate inflatable weapon role sport.

Auction.
Turn your old games into cash, and maybe pick up a bargain. May over-run...

Pub Quiz.
Beer prizes.

The Grouse.
You have five minutes to convince the audience that your favourite off-the-wall theory is true.

StoryTelling.
Bring your favourite tale to entertain your fellows. Free drinks for the most entertaining.

FREEFORMS Evil High Priest
A Call of Cthulhu LARP, by Sandy Petersen.

The players are all awful horrible villains attending the final Grand Conventicle to determine the fate of Earth. Play Wilbur Whateley, the High Priest of Leng, the Shoggoth, or Great Cthulhu himself.

The Uz-Bournes
A trollish freeform.

An everyday tale of simple dark folk. Who will lead the clan into the next year? Will the Zorak Zorani berserkers complete their murderous ritual? What's that trollkin doing sneaking around? And, more importantly, who'll win the Trollball?

Carry On Up Camp David

A very serious political LARP.

Murder at the Grey Dog Inn

A murder mystery in a classic Gloranthan setting.

TABLETOP RPGS Beak No Evil
Bad Boon Rising
Being, Two Twagedies in Five Acts

A single session HeroQuest (kinda) module by John Hughes and friends. A sort of beer-and-pretzels affair, though distinctly lacking in pretzels. Play the fweedom-loving Heortling ducks, play the imperious Lunar baboons or (shudder) team one against the other in a ruthless battle where only the GM walks tall.

Attack of the Wolfmen

By Neil Smith. The Telmori werewolves are terrorising the tula, and only a band of plucky adolescents can stop them.

Light and Death

By Neil Smith. A brutal murder has been committed in Raibanth, and the victim in a prominent member of your league. Can you stop the killer before he (or she) strikes again, and what is the connection the the new bridge across the Oslir?

The Great Lobster Drive

By James Frusetta. Tastes in the Lunar Empire change wildly. Your boss believes that Giant Lobsters are just the thing this season. Now, all you have to do is get the Trolls of Skyfall Lake to sell you some, then herd them back across northern Dragon Pass...

Young Thrax

Nick Brooke will bring Chris Gidlow's prequel to "Tarsh War". Join newly promoted General Livius Thrax on his first independent command, a top-secret mission against enemies of the Empire. Can his "filthy fourteen" plumb the depths of the Sewers of Furthest? Or will renewed Proxy Wars belch forth from the Cloaca Maxima? Four hours, up to 14 players.

Rough Night in Roundstone

"You stand before Roundstone, King's Hall of the Sambari. Your sword is
drawn and bloodied. Crimson stains the snow. At your feet lies the body of Enfrew, right hand man of the king. Around you stand royal huscarls and lunar soldiers, their weapons drawn and levelled towards you. What the Gbaji is going on?"

Treachery, love and duty conspire to form a tragedy of Shakespearean, nay, Bibical proportions for the Moon-struck Firebull clan.

SEMINARS Sandy Speaks.
Sandy Petersen talks on whatever he feels like at the time. A chance to meet and be entertained by this legendary gamer.

Gloranthan Resurrection.
When I started roleplaying, RuneQuest was one of the biggest systems. Now, Glorantha has become a niche market. What is being done to bring Glorantha back to the main stream? What else could be done?

HeroQuesting.
Graham Robinson talks about heroquesting and the other side.

Loskalm.
Jamie 'Trotsky' Revell tells us all about Loskalm, and the forthcoming
"Sorceror Knights".

Pamaltela and the East Isles.
Sandy Petersen talks about the "Missing Lands" of Glorantha.

Sun County - More Secret History.
Jane Williams and Nick Brooke tell us more secrets of the Sun Dome. Just don't ask about olive oil.

Cthulhu.
Sandy Petersen talks about Call of Cthulhu, past, present and future.

Computer Gaming.
Sandy Petersen talks about computers - what he's worked on, what he's working on, and gives his views of the industry.

The Gloranthan Sky.
Alex Ferguson talks on the night sky of Glorantha, and demonstrates his new software.
