Phases of the moon, problem and solution

Am I the only one that sees the problem with the current, lighthouse-lantern model of the Red Moon?

Take an orange and a flashlight, and model what the moon will look like. The phases as described will only look like that when the moon is viewed from so far away that it appreast low on the horizon.

In the Silver Shadow, and in the holy city of Glamour, the moon will always be in half-full phase, turning above. It is also difficult to be far enough to see the true phases, so for most parts the moon will never be quite full and never be quite empty.

This is _clearly_ wrong.

I propose moving back to the old model. The moon look _the_same_ where-ever on the mortal plane of Glorantha one looks at it. There is some evidence that the surface of the moon is at the same time the inner surface of the crater anyway. Having the moon be a mystery, a huge peace of glamour (in the Gloranthan version, of magically created reality) fits the nature of the Lunar way to a tee. Much better than trying to model it as a trillion ton rock-balloon darkened by a floating darkness sphere.
(The destrix can still be the name and entity that causes the moon to vax
and vane).

For me, at least, it's very cool that the moon is both concreate reality
(one can go to the moon, and look down on Glorantha) and a mind-bending
paradox (propably not a good idea to look down on the crater from the moon unless suffisciently enlightend. Or parhaps the crater isn't even there when looking down from the moon.).

Rufelza is a Great Goddess, afterall, and one with very mysterious powers. The semi reality of the moon pulsing (as opposed to turning) overhead seems much better to me than trying to force Gloranthan reality to conform with Terran astronomy.

Like was said in the Sciense of Discworld, Occam would have grown a beard. :)
