I can't think of many other people that would leave Harrek with:
Not to mention the fact that Harrek was so touched by the conflict that he wore the other person's heart as jewelery.
The apparent contradiction in that JarEel appears again on the next page is easily resolved by observing that the Battle of Heroes excerpt in which JarEel was killed is a direct borrowing from Harreksaga that was inserted by the Southern Compiler. That Compiler knew that Harrek killed JarEel at some stage but didn't know precisely where and so inserted the Harreksaga fragment at the wrong place.
