"Barntar" worship has risen steeply on some lunar occupied tribes in Sartar 1612->, hasn't it? Due to the ban of Orlanth worship... Barntari feed their children first before the rebellious gods. [Lunar occupiers accept Barntar as an alternative to Orlanth] ST However, an unobtrusive counterwind is also blowing via the plow. Barntar is hard, loyal free god - who serves his good parents.

My guess would be that Durev is nicest way to achieve the male heortling dream: own household (old or new), wife and family. In a social enviroment, I reckon Durev superb to Barntar even in agricultural matters; not plowing per se, but total efficacy.

I think, The Plowing God has herited a fair bit of loner type from his grandfather; he has done prison time and we know he's drinker.

Durev can boast in front of the Thunder Brothers to best in nothing less than Prosperity. But now, under occupation the dureving ideals are difficult to achieve. With foreigners he may not have solution! Some pragmatic people forsake Durev altogether for foreign Doburdun. [And the Good Storm God is the recommened alternative for Orlanth!]

I think "the normal subcult" premise is not entirely valid under the occupational hardship. Free the tribes! [Be Us.]
