> Could the Arkat connection be the important one?

Arkat connection is important one in general. Humakt's lasting presence in Fronela may give some credentials how Arkat came to be in Brithos.

How Humakt came to Fronela? Presumambly with Vadrus. Possibly after the "Grand Funeral" of Umath in shores of the north sea. Anyway, a galaxy far away before Arkat, like Peter has said.

Humakt's power affects the lands still. It is one of the things that Fronela is made of. The Separation of Syndic's Ban was of him, wheter or not lines contained iron (which rusted away with time and so faded the mists). The war (death and more death) and chivalry is of him, or manifests him - of course in a collateral way.

In the Storm Age Humakt must have been even more brutal bastard than he is these days. Humct is the bogeyman of western stories to this day! Notice the carmanian affinities: combat, battle, death! The carmanians do not credit honor as an essential of the Wargod.

We can presume, that Humakt lost 'battle' at the Stormfall. :) =46or the early Vinkotling age he may have been a mere minor god with just two affinities, but with skill and a good rep for his steadfastnes= s!

Peter: on Urnbudud - [that which cut rim of the sky loose]
> The name is related to Doburdun, the Thunder God of Darsen. I
> would treat it as a subcult of Doburdon (teaching the affinity of
> Sword Combat) that could be picked up by Shargash, Orlanth
> or Vadrus.

All agreeable. [IMG btw I treat Doburdun ultimately as a thunder sticko made by Great Kolat who wanted the little brothers to be tougher (and leave him alone) so he designed something that would continuously beat them up - and no, Kolat has no control over it whatsoever, makes it all the more dangerous the better]

My thoughts hold Urnbudud as a piece of Old Death Humakt has to conguer during his Sojourn in Despair - the regaining Death quest.

Apart from very clearly told Ana Gor challenge the details of who the Old Death were are thin. ...possibly forgotten as raw material wastage from forging the Iron Hu of Death anew.

> The Dara Happans would have no problem in saying that the Young God
> gets defeated by Humakt.

Yes, and that I would presume to be the Young God is defeated by Urnbudud part in the autumn. From heortling POW this might be one of the heroquests that may be made on the Day of Standards, Earth Season to gain new powers for the warband. [Storm Tribe, pg 92]
