That's obviously a remarkable power, but it's still "just" an augment. It doesn't really compare that well with a heortling champion's "shatter things with lightning 5w3" or some such.

No, its not an augment, the value, say 10W, gets ADDED to the skill. Thus a skill that is the benefactor, that may have been, say 15W, is now 5W3 - awesome eh?

(Mikko)

Raw magic, not used as an augment, but as itself, is what I was thinking about.

In a contest you defend with your best magical ability. Now if you are in a game where a character has a feat at 5W3, then it is entirely likely that he will be coming up against people that will even challenge that. FREX in the Gwandor saga, an excellent example of the high end type game, they have a player at 4 or 5 masteries with a thunderstone. Enter the shamans of Prax wheeling out the Rhino founder, somewhere in the 5W7 range!!!! Specials? Yes. Usuall? No.

The HW/HQ supplement is pitched at the 'best ability in 15W2 level. This is still way below going one on one with a low end shaman. And shaman's don't normally get into slugfests.

Any help Mikko?

Regards

Rob

Parhaps the "releasing the fetish" augment mechanism is the reason spirit's can't be much more powerful as they are. The mechanism is pretty strange to me, concidering you don't get such add-on augments anywhere else (I think). Even heroquest-challenge skills don't add to your original skill, but just act as an augment (or are augmented by the original, ir higher).
