> I heartily recommend it. My game is still in the year 1600 > ST. The problem> with the offiscial 1620+ date is that much of the really cool > stuff has disappeared already. I've also just started a new campaign set in Sartar, but in 1602, the year of the invasion, with my old group of RQers, the first Glorantha based game we've played in about 15 yrs (I'll be introducing ideas from HQ as the game progresses, but it'll probably be a strange mix of the two)! I agree that era of history is a splendid time to be running a campaign. From a Heortling point of view you get to see all the changes that occur once the Lunars take over; the deaths that occur within the tribe at the time of the invasion, assuming the PCs come from one of those that fought the Lunars, and the implications this has on the structure within the tribe; the old inter-clan feuds that come to the surface after the conquest and a thousand and one other things. I'll be giving my players a game year or two of all of these events to show how society within Sartar changes, and then give them the option of moving to Prax or elsewhere with other Sartarite refugees who want out of the Lunar controlled area of Dragon Pass, which of course then opens up everything that has been written in Sun County, Pavis and the like. It is a very fertile time to be setting a campaign and it was partly inspired by much of what has been written over the past ten years or so whilst I was away from RPGing. My thanks to David Hall and the many others who edited and wrote for 'TotRM' 'TradeTalk' and the many other publications that recently re-inspired me to dust off those old RQ/Glorantha supplements that have been laying unused in my cupboards for far too many years. And of course, many thanks Greg! Out of interest, is there any 'official timetable' of when the Lunars invaded Sartar in 1602, when Runegate and then Boldholme fell for example? I had them invade in Earth Season, as they knew the Sartarites would be torn between sending most of their fryds but risk starvation in the seasons afterwards or having to keep some of their fighting age men and women back to help with the harvest and thus weaken their army. It would have meant a quick campaign of course, but that would be feasible if good preparations were made beforehand. Plus the Lunars would have been able to live of the land - or rather the herds & fresh harvests of the clans whose tulas they marched across - thus not needing to lug so much baggage around with them. Anyway, better end on that note.
Sion.
