The old guy in grey leads the IC like we thought, but I don't know who, if anyone, gives orders to Red - she seems to come and go without regard to anyone else, including O.G. In any case, here is the summary of the doctrine they spout in the Inner Circle. It doesn't sound like much but when you're Down There it's oddly compelling to hear this stuff - it feels somehow like you're _outside_ of time and their story is how it REALLY happened. Could be ab-juju as the Uz say, but when the old guy gets onto preaching _I_ start to believe him. I'm losing my sense of reality - there is something _strange_ about those tunnels where the I.C. meets. Enclosed is a picture of the Altar chamber. I don't know how accurate it really is - they could have something that fools Darksight. I don't know how long I can keep this up. I'm sure the old guy has Mindlink or something like it and it's hard to watch my thoughts _all_ the time. One slip up and I'm a goner. Get me out of here! All hail DX, etc. PS. I sent the rest of the information under separate cover using the old drop procedure. I don't know if I'll be able to communicate again, the I.C. is pretty closely watched. GMOoH! > The GREAT GODDESS Many and glorious are the works of the goddess. She is all-powerful and is known to us in three great aspects and a myriad of lesser forms. The great goddess as Glorantha created the world; as Arachne Solara she preserves it and as Krarsht the Devourer will she destroy this world. All that Krarsht consumes is remembered and will be used for the regeneration of the world. Our world has been recreated from the ashes of previous incarnations many times; what the Goddess devours will be and has been recreated many times. Krarsht is patient and will eat each creature in the proper time, holding them in her Womb of Rebirth until the recreation of the world. Only through being consumed by the Goddess can one's soul survive the destruction and re-creation of the world. In Godtime the world was attacked by the forces of entropy which came out of the Void. The Void is without law or rules and holds every possible world. The vital worlds are infinitesimal compared to the expanse of the Void. Half-beings live on the fringes of the real worlds, hungering for true existence. One such was Wakboth the Evil. Misguided would-be deities gave him entry into our world by calling him in and giving him form and substance out of their own. He created a great army. Krarsht at that time had not come to her full strength. By guile she defended the world. She seduced one half of Wakboth's forces into following her and led them against the unbreakable troll stronghold. They were destroyed and she slipped away as planned. The High Trolls must know the truth and yet they allow their minions to fight the servants of the devouring goddess. They are not to be trusted. Krarsht remembers all and we share in her memory. In Godtime there arose mighty sorcerors in the west. Some of them followed true learning. Others saw the quick path to power - to take from others the strength which was rightfully theirs. These sorcerors used their native powers to awe ignorant masses and had themselves worshipped as gods. This worship gave them even greater power. But this power was a trap; as they gained power they had to give up their selfhood until they fit the image of the legends they themselves had created. Now they are the captives of their worshippers and their worshippers are their slaves in a vicious chain of worship and degradation. Among the mightiest of these false gods are Worlath, now known as Orlanth, and Ehilm, now called Yelm. The tales their priests tell are virtually all lies with only the tiniest grain of truth at the core. Worshippers who die in the service of these gods are stripped of their memory and personality and used as grotesque power sources by the priests to shore up the reputation of their false gods. Only Krarsht can save these sad creatures by devouring them and their so-called gods and returning their stolen minds and power to them in the re-creation that is to come. Three ages of the world have past and three are yet to come. The freedom brought by Time is an illusion but a comforting one. Our world is doomed to replay the folly of the Gods Age before the Plan can be completed. The False Gods interrupted the cycle of creation by sabotaging the coming of the sixth and highest element. Six is the perfect number. In each re-creation of the world, six ages are to be experienced. The great powers of Godtime failed and let chaos into the closed cycle of the world, disrupting the progress planned by the Goddess. We who live in Time must fight to succeed where our predecessors failed. Only in this way can our flawed creation be consumed and reborn in a more perfect state. The First Age is the Age of Darkness and ours ended in the Darkness brought by Arkat the Destroyer. The Second Age is the Age of Water and was destroyed in Water with the sinking of Jrustela. Our age is the Age of Earth and will end in Earth. The Fourth Age will be like the Golden Age of Godtime. For five centuries the world will live in peace and light. Mankind will be happy but they will fall away from the worship of the Goddess. Only a few true believers will be left. But ever will the children of the Goddess wait and be patient far beneath the Surface. Then will peace be shattered. The Fifth Age, the Age of Storm, will come after the great fires destroy the world. Mankind will be a pitiful remnant and monsters of the Outer Dark will freely roam the Earth. At the end, Worlath will dominate all but his victory will be an empty one. Glorantha will be a vast storm-swept wasteland and all will suffer. But Worlath will perish in his own winds. The Perfect One will return to heal the Daughter of the Great Goddess. The Shattered Moon will reunite and the White Moon will rise. The broken body of Glorantha will be healed and a thousand years of peace and harmony will pass. This is the Sixth Age, the Age of Perfection the true Lunar Age. Then when the world is healed will the Goddess rise to devour all. Krarsht's true name will be revealed at the end of Time. When the world is consumed, the Goddess will be alone in the Void. Then will she give birth to the new world. Those who served her in this life will be well rewarded in the new creation. This is the Way and the Plan. Those who threaten the Goddess threaten the survival of our world. They must be killed. We hope that in their next incarnation they will see the error of their ways. --------------------- From: awr0@aberystwyth.ac.uk Subject: Hey Dudes Message-ID: <9306281014.AA02701@uk.ac.aber.fronta> Date: 28 Jun 93 12:14:18 GMT X-RQ-ID: 1179 In our campaign, seeing as it was comming to the end of our years together...
