Phew, what a scorcher.

I have finally woken up sufficiently to add to the general confusion of what
ACTUALLY happened last weekend (having got up 3 am Friday morning to travel from
Sweden and arriving back home in Teesside [UK] 4 am Monday morning!).

Friday - met lots of people at the bar, nice to see all the old faces (and the
new ones as well, Hi Penny).

Saturday morning me and my gang (one of whom lives in Leicester, hence we were
staying at his house) arrived just in time to find out that I was not a referee
for the RQ tournament, but another one of us was (Jon Tarry). Our third member
went off and played (Pete Nash - Hi, hope you're enjoying the prize). Thus I
ended up playing the GM's allied spirit during a very punny (as in funny)
adventure - Mad Prax beyond The Sun Dome. This had been spawned by the
ever-imaginative brain of MOB and 'starred' those memorable characters Melo Yelo
and Promethius (or however it's spelt!) of Sun County fame.

After having recovered from the paraxyms of laughter caused by the ending ('Last
Waltz in Pavis' indeed!) we decided that those who had sweated out the trollball
had had the worst of the deal.

We then retired for lunch and a looong (2 hours plus) discussion of heroquesting
- how and why - whilst those very lucky mannequains (spelling - help!) modelling
the latest Sog hat fashions proceeded with the free-form.

Forgotten Futures - Marcus Rowland introduced the second version of his
shareware rules system for Scientific Romances in the style of Kipling et al.
Male chauvinism at its colonial best.

Heroquest panel - Lots of argument over whether this can actually affect the
'real' Glorantha. Can Genert be brought back [according to Greg in the Lore
auction - yes, but it's VERY difficult]. I think that in the end I confused
everybody and we all agreed that although we maybe disagreed about a lot of
things, we all agreed about most others. The quest continues...

The bar, that night...

(un)Fortunately I was driving, and so did not imbibe the dreaded poison Old
Peculier (apparently systemic POT 4). However, we had a splendid time coming
second in the pub quiz, chatting to various personalities and getting lots of
useless Inter*action pens that still do not work. Well done Lewis for coming up
with that awful question about Roman Patricide punishments.

Sunday dawns...why am I still awake?

Lots of interesting things/games happening in the morning...managed in the end
to wake up in time for lunch.

Greg's address - The mysteries explained. Those of you who were there and have
KoS, read page 211! Heroquest looks like it will never be official - that's
official, I think. (Who would have though Arachne Solara was the size of 3
garbage trucks?)

The Lore Auction - Lots of good questions, including some which were asked
twice! Sandy and Greg may be all knowing, but they do not know everything.

The Auction - The visitors seemed to be under the impression that there is a
major recession on at the moment, as the prices were definitively down on two
years ago. The major item [Sandy's campaign log] was brought forward so that
the buyer could buy before having to rush off. The bidding for it was so quick
and deadly that had you blinked you would have missed it. People who waited
'til the end got some reasonable bargains, though it was a pity about the
somewhat high reserves on the last items. What the Torg/Shadowrun stuff was
doing there I have no idea, but we were spared the spectacle of the Traveller
trading of two years ago. For those of us who were buying to use, it was rather
annoying to see people buying 'cheap' just to probably take abroad and sell at a
profit (MOB is NOT included in that comment!)

A night at Gimpy's - A great tale of an evening, good stories all round, good
company.

Greg Reads - As usual, not quite was what expected. VERY early Pelorian mythos.
So now we think we might know where the Red Godess ACTUALLY came from.

THE END (just a 4 hour drive in a Syndics Ban fog 'up north').

Finally, some sleep.........

I too am in the process of writing a SoloQuest, based on the SQ model
Alan LaVergne used in SQ1, SQ2, SQ3, and in QuestWorld (and the RQ
Companion, but I don't recall if Alan wrote that one). So, I am also
very interested to know if there's interest in SoloQuests any more
   (personally, I like them).

The copyright shouldn't be a problem -- just as RQ Adventures, TotRM,
and Codex are all published outside AH (or Chaosium) and with the
appropriate disclaimers are fine. Distribution is another story --
one I don't know too much about. I wonder if AH would be willing
to publish SQs? If not, maybe our SQs could appear as special
issues of one of the 'zines I listed?

As for methods of writing the SoloQuest itself, I have too many ideas
for this Digest -- send me a note and I'll send you my outline and
   mechanics.

Finally, I see you got a response for SQ2 -- I have all the ones I
listed in my first paragraph and could send you photocopies (the
originals are too hard to replace!).

Hmmm, "Peace Corps"? maybe in the sense that Mom and Dad would say "You're
going to do WHAT?!?" Not in any other sense. *That* would be the province of
the missionaries of the White Moon in my games.

Hmm, this has varied in the past. I suppose Irripi Ontor, whom I view as
more open with information than Lhankor Mhy, though not as likely to go
out of the way to spread information as Etyries or Issaries. I realize
that there are other common connotations to I.O., as well, and some of
these stick too.

At times though, some of the troll gods have seemed more appropriate (dark,
depressed, angry). Luckily that's no longer the case.

To Barron:
What the heck is a spon?

Did any CoP go up for auction? I'm trying to find out if I was a total
idiot for buying an early edition at Origins for $60.

To Elias:
if you can FTP at soda.berkeley.edu in /pub/runequest/archives/supplements
get the following supplements:

sup05 - Steve Maurer's HeroQuest version 2.0
sup06 - Steve Maurer's HeroQuest Q&A
sup07 - Steve Maurer's HeroQuest Scenario

If you can't FTP, let me know and I will email them to you.

Hey guy, c'mon.

You have a listserver, presumably because you couldn't get the support for
a group. We know its there. If we were interested in the bloody thing, we'd
SUBSCRIBE TO IT.

STOP SPAMMING THE NEWSGROUP, OK?

MOST OF US NOWADAYS HAVE TO PAY ACCESS, and a 500k message every day is
a bloody waste of time and space.

I mean, plug the bloody thing once a week, or something, but don't keep
sending the whole ruddy kit & kaboodle.

Yrs, fucked right off to the hilt with inconsiderate assholes.
