Correct. Note that there is no physical risk to the troll - if you get a Complete Defeat he may be shamed, shunned, contrite, your sworn slave, etc., but he will not be physically harmed in any way. The change in AP represents you doing what *you* want to do, and the troll doing what *he* wants to do, and the relative success thereof.
