Hello,

I'm new to Hero Wars and old to Glorantha.

I am sure that i am not alone in wanting to adapt HW to other settings. Is there a handy list of sites that have applied HW to other heroic genres?

I was thinking about my 'pirate game' I'm planning. I will probably have to run it using Flashing Blades now (which will be Ok) due to player expectation, but now I'd much rather run it using HW. I have only done a bit of work on it so far and that has been to create some props.

I only have the Hero Wars book at present but thought that I could describe ships something like this in stat terms:

Spanish Galleon
Handling in heavy seas 10
Ship Combat 18
Tacking and manouevering 6
Daunting Appearance 6W
Thunderous Broadside ^5
Gilded Hull ^2

Pirate Corsair
Bearing down 2W2
Ship Combat 15
Tacking and manouevering 3W
Fearsome Jolly Roger 14
Grappling 3W
Accurate Long Cannon Fire ^4
Reinforced Hull ^3

Combat Results Table

Marginal - A bit of rigging lost and splintered timbers Minor - Damaged (-1) Some fires and casualties Major - Taking on water (-50%) Major damage in desperate need of repair could sink in heavy waters
Complete - Sunk

Ship combat would be an extended contest.

The character keywords would also be fun to generate. I'm convinced the whole thing would work really easily. I wouldn't need anything more than the HW book, if that, now that I have the charts and rules synopsis. Instead of using the mastery rune I would try and find a skull and crossbones winding :-))

Anyway, to sumarise. I think Hero Wars is a refreshing change to many rule systems and look forward to seeing the ideas posted on this forum. I also hope this wasn't too off topic for a first post, I like Glorantha too!

Best,
