To quote from the books:
Hero Wars RPiG:
"You are a holy person, one who talks to and about deities. You have a natural closeness to the immortals and have learned how to maintain the sacred lifestyle. What you know you have learned from the community or more often from the god itself. Other cultures might call you a priest, though "priest" is as much a political as a magical occupation amongst your peoples."....."Most god-talkers have established a devotional relationship with their god."

Thunder Rebels:
"God-talkers are holy people who talk to and about the deities. They have a natural closeness ot the immortals, and know how to maintain the sacred lifestyle. What they know they have learned from the communityor, more often, from their god." "Most god-talkers have an additional occupation, and officiate only at specific rites during the year. A god-talker working full time at the sacred tasks normally becomes a priest, although that is as much a political occupation as it is a magical one." "Most god-talkers are devotees of their deity."

So not only does it seem weird that, for example, god-talkers of war gods are usually poor fighters, it is even implied in here that most god-talkers have occupational skills. Obviously this is a place where the 1 profession key-word, 1 magic key-word system doesn't fit gloranthan complexity very well.

Perhaps a reasonable house rule would be to let god-talkers take an additional number (three?) of 'skills' typically associated with occupations that often worship their god (or aspect or sub-cult). This would make god-talkers less comprehensively skilled in that area than the true professionals, but at least reasonably worthy to do things alongside them.

Mind you, most godi are devotees, and devotees don't have enough time left to fully support themselves with a profession, so maybe this doesn't make so much sense after all....

> Now the question is, if you want to get someone to intercede

As mentioned in the quotes above, most godi are devotees.
