[On Grievous Wounds and Trading 7 AP for a Hurt]

noticeable difference. Trading in Aps for a wound may affect the odds of a contest, but it also has the effect of making the contest last longer, thus weakening the drama.

I appreciate your point. Perhaps the answer is lowering of Grievous Wounds to 7 (thus automatically lowering abilities with a relatively low bid), or perhaps temporary -1 penalties which only last for the duration of the contest... ...say for every 5 AP lost a -1 modifier is gained until the Extended Contest is concluded.

An opponent can be cornered, ridiculed, and belittled in an argument, lose 15 AP and have their retort severly undermined (-3) yet once the contest is concluded their actual self-esteem may not be impeded after a moment of reflection (assuming the loser of the contest is "dazed").
