I think this is key to understanding the usefulness of things
like "swordhelp." Sure, devotee Bob will probably "just" be used to
augment his close combat, which doesn't seem a lot different than
initiate Joe using his combat affinity to augment his close combat.
BUT, devotee Bob can then use other feats to give himself additional
augments, while initiate Joe just reached the end of his combat magic.
If they don't have much time to prepare magic it may not seem awfully
different, but when fully "powered up" it can be quite a big
difference.
