Risky tactics in Simple Contests (was automatic firearms and AP bids)

Big risk-taking in a Simple Contest could be modelled by going for a big augment.

Not that I know what I'm talking about, but for modern firearms I'd be inclined to ditch weapon/equipment ranks and give the weapons target numbers each instead.

Example:
Suppose my Tommy Gun has Automatic Fire =20 and I'm in a simple contest firefight.
No risk option: +2 automatic augment
High risk option: +4 augment
Extreme risk option: +6 augment (if I miss my roll on that one I'll get -6, but there's a chance I get +6)
