To add to my confusion, take these lines straight from the demo...

'The Sedrali will use their Run Fast to augment their Spear Fighting. They may also use their Combat Fetish, possibly gaining an additional 12 APs...' ...suggests allowing automatic success... '...Thus the beastmen start with 21 AP + any APs receive from the fetish...'

Now, their Spear Fighting is 17, Run Fast is 18, and the fetish is Might 12. So just how do they get 21 AP plus the fetish? That would be +4 from the Run Fast, a resistance 10 against the Ability of 18. Was the +4 just a likely, but arbitrary number added by the writer? Or is there some sort of 'standard' augmentation when you don't want to roll all the dice? 18 vs. 10 is far from a sure thing, after all, less than a 50-50 chance. Likewise what use is a Might 12 fetish? Even trying for a +2 Edge is a pitiful chance (your 12 vs. 5, the most likely results would be Minor Defeats or Victories, giving +/-1, hardly worth the risk!).
