Sure, if it's a roleplaying club or something, that's fine. If I meet a group of roleplayers, and discover that I don't enjoy their group, I leave it. However, when it is a bunch of friends, and they are roleplayers, and the only one that volunteers to run a game is a powergaming GM, then that's all you have. Sometimes it was great, though, I have it on reliable authority that the guy ran one of the best Gloranthan campaigns ever, one of the characters from which is still being played. I also have many happy memories of a Forgotten Realms game that he ran. Sometimes it's fun to play a game with an adversarial referee, especially if the rest of the players are on your side.
