Another extended contest result quandry

The rules tell us that even if you augment someone else during a group extended contest, you are subject to the results that your side gets. Makes sense, if you get involved and your side loses, you are probably hurt.

Only problem is, defeat levels are defined individually, not collectively.

One rules-mashing work around is to apply some medium, mode, or average result. (stats lecture on the difference snipped).

Perhaps more intuitevely, even if you are augmenting someone else, you have AP, you just haven't chosen to bid any yet. Your side is defeated when everyone is driven to negative AP, and so they haven't fallen until that happens to the augmentor too. Of course, if it is a group extended contest and everyone else has fallen, the augmentor's chance of lasting long isn't high, but you never know....
