If you assume that the forbidden common magic doesn't go away (I believe
Nick "Beautiful Dreamer" Brooke suggested this), this can be great for
roleplayers. Their spells are there waiting to be used... but if they do
use them, how soon are the Spirits of Reprisal going to start showing
up? Perhaps the temple elders will overlook these minor transgressions,
but maybe not all of them are so forgiving. If they keep their
transgressions a secret, can they explain just why their concentrated
magic has failed to their higher-ups? If they're the leaders of the
community, what happens when their condition becomes apparent to their
community? Can they seek forgiveness for their transgressions, perhaps
doing a great service for their temple? Great opportunities for storylines.
