As a throughback to RQ you could just say that a blank piece of Truestone would make anyone who touched it originally want to put all their magic into it. This would mean that encountered Truestone could have pretty much anything in it Feats, Spirits, Spells, weird exotic stuff, etc. At whatever level they were originally put in there. So it could contain places for spirits ala talismans and charms, or whatever. And the finder would have to make any sort of special arrangements things like spirits would require before you could use them.
