IMO, contemporary Malkioni would see the God Learners as figures rather like Solomon the Wise -- yes, they stood in a special relationship with God, had profound wisdom, and did amazing things; but they were also tainted by excesses of demonology, occultism and paganism, came to a sticky end, and we *don't* want to do likewise ourselves, thank you very much.
