Here is how I conceptualize it, based on my limited understanding.

Much as the other worlds all meet in the mortal world, and in the gods war, they also all meet in hell. It is in fact possible that this is of deep cosmological significance (the `mortal world' is really the uppermost layer of hell? Hell is really just part of the God's War, just a particularly unpleasant part?).

In practical terms, I think each other world has its own connections to hell, so is apt to develop (somewhere, some time) its own magic to interact with those parts of hell that it easily connects too. There are probably deeper parts of hell that are equally accessible or inaccessible to practitioners of any magic system. If you delve deeply enough through hell, you are apt to end up emerging into another other world, which is no less terrible and horrific (and subject to alien world modifiers) to you than hell, so to each practice many of the worshipped entities of the other two other worlds would be considered demons from hell too.

(Hmmm, makes me wonder if Lodril has a little know pair of sub-cults to deal with essences and spirits?)

Of course, dealing with demons is always tricky. Great shamans may attempt it, but obviously those most able to do this would be sorcerors and wizards, due to their ability use essences to pump up their magic. Hence all the mystic items they would make sure to have on hand before dealing with a demon! I would imagine that most branches of the church would forbid dealing with demons, but there are bound to be a few exceptions, and of course there are always those frightening folk not associated with the church.....
