Given that whatever the item is can be used outside of it's belief system (a Wizard couldn't use an item that is only usable by an initate or Devotee of an Orlanth Rex cult, for instance) then I don't see any insurmountable problem. Wizards can, after all, use common magic feats and charms...

As you say, recharging an item from a "foreign" belief system might prove more difficult. An orderlies talismans are recharged only at a worship service for that order, and an Animist who leaves a practice will find his practice spirits do not return to their fetishes when released
