Not to mention the Rules feature that by using the ability, you can
increase it with a lower HP cost. I.e., narratively, by using it, even
if only to augment when the Gods of Chance decreed that you should
triumph even without needing it, enables you to perhaps gain a better
understanding of that ability. Not everything that you do in a
particular contest will affect that contest, alone; sometimes the
effects are only seen in the longer term.
