Perhaps the secret of the tree leaping magic is that the tree branches actualy push up under your toes as you do the leap, or they sway upwards, creating a magical updraft of air that supports your jump. The point is, the tree you're jumping is part of the magic. Otherwise it's not _tree_ leaping magic.
