I concur. A set of brief myth summaries would probably be best, you don't need a mini-novel. Just a few paragraphs would be enough.
I think the ideal solution is for each group to come up with their own as often as they can, but a set of examples to work from, or to turn to when you just don't have the time to DIY it would be very handy. We could even put them in a database on this group's web site.
