Hero points...

Hi all

In a game, say you have a contest, simple or extended and both have a rating of 17. The player rolls 1, and I as the narrating roll 10. Thats a natural crit for the player, and a success for the NPC. Can the player spend a Hero Point to bump down the result of the NPC to a failure??
