Maybe key here is that self rock is _A_ way to concentrate on common
magic, not the only way. The way I read it, it was implied that you
could normally concentrate just on talents. However, with the
wonders of self rock, you could extend the benefits of concentration
to include the other forms of common magic.
Note, that is how I read it.....which may not match how it was
intended!
