AFAIR (and the original case was a long tme ago) this was a collection of injuries taken while defending some Cradle or other. That isn't "he hits you, you're at -10", it's "he hits you, -1", "Next guy hits you, -1". Repeat... (actually, there were bits in between when another few of them died, but you get the idea.) No, my PC wasn't fighting very well by the end of all that, and being the only one in the group with any First Aid or similar was a bad move.
