P118 - Affinities
An initiate can improvise any named feat in the affinity as an active
ability ....
AN initiate is an initiate etc, regardless of where or how he/she gets
feats or affinities they are ALL improvised, and all suffer -5/-10.
So your character would have cult affinities at 17, and bonus
affinities/feats from your 100 words at 13. All would be at -5, so 12
and 8.
All the different responses are confusing me, I thought your question
was that your cult affinities were at 17(-5), and you thought a
subcult feat would be at 13 (no -5). You wondered why your base magic
was at effective 12 and the other feat was higher at 13.
My answer is that ALL feats are done at -5, so the comparative values
of the magic are ok. I hope I am on track.
