"Yes, I'm comparing feats with feats, not apples with bananas. Neither used actively. Admittedly when used as an augment, the difference between 12 and 13 isn't all that significant, but the fact that the feat from the "other" sub-cult is easier to use than my own one seems Wrong.
Look at it this way: If you paid a hero point for it (assuming a concentrated initiate) you get the feat at 13, whether it's derived from an affinity or not. So, if you really want a higher ability from a feat derived from an affinity, buy the feat in addition to the affinity.
If you want to be good at one or two feats, buy them separately. If you want to be good at more than that, find an affinity that covers them.
