Alex intuited:

"I suppose my intuition is that for some 'sufficiently high' degree of magical specialisation and power, there out to be some in-Glorantha reason _for_ becoming a devotee -- whether magical in and of itself, or social, or whatever. The account of this in the game(-mechanics) as it stands is a little less than compelling."

You get the secret of your subcult, which (in game in most cases IMHO) is not worth having. Knowing the secret is one of those things you need to become a Rune Lord - which is worth doing as suddenly you open all of your aspects magic at quite a bargain basement rate.

Funny really - it's most effective to go from Initiate to Rune Lord... Not only that and we've got associate cult magic with everyone able to learn loads of extra doodads. Sounds like some other game which couldn't simulate Glorantha that well (apparently). We could even use the cult compatability chart to see if members of cult A can learn magic from cult B.

Welcome back 1978 - I've missed you!

Cheers,

Ash
